Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the feasibility and safety of modified transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery for huge ovarian cyst.

Methods

Clinical data of 20 patients with giant ovarian cysts who underwent modified transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery at Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the first affiliated hospital of Nanchang University from Jan. 2020 to Dec. 2020 were collected, and the patients were followed up.

Results

All 20 cases of modified transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery were successfully completed without laparotomy, additional puncture, cystic fluid leakage and intraoperative or postoperative complications. The average operative time was 94.95 ± 19.23 minutes, the average intraoperative blood loss was 59.50 ± 35.61 ml, the average maximum longitude of tumor was 12.60±4.91 cm, the average length of hospital stay postoperation was 3.55±0.60 days, the average time of gastrointestinal function recovery postoperation was 1.55 ± 0.51 days, the pain score 24 hours after surgery was 2.10 ± 0.55 points and patient satisfaction was 4.75 ± 0.44 points. All the patients had good wound healing and high satisfaction with the surgical results. No recurrence occurred in 6 months follow-up.

Conclusions

After full preoperative evaluation of the patient′s condition, modified transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery for huge ovarian cyst may be safe and feasible, and has the advantages of small trauma and beautiful incision.
