Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the feasibility of using laparoendoscopic single site surgery (LESS) to carry out common gynecological operations by comparing LESS with traditional porous laparoscopy.

Methods

Clinical data of 110 cases of LESS performed in the department of gynecology of Hunan Provincial People′s Hospital from Jan. 2018 to Mar. 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, and compared with 110 cases of traditional porous laparoscopic surgery performed in the same period.

Results

There were no statistical differences in general conditions (age, BMI, mass diameter, blood HCG value, maximum uterine diameter) between the two groups(P>0.05). The operation in both groups was successfully completed without transfer to laparotomy and no surgical complications. Comparison of the results of salpingectomy between the two groups: the LESS group had longer operation time, more intraoperative blood loss, lower VAS 12 hours after surgery, and shorter postoperative hospital stay, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Comparison of the results of ovarian cyst excision or adnexectomy between the two groups: the LESS group had longer operation time and lower VAS 12 hours after surgery, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Comparison of the results of total hysterectomy between the two groups: the LESS group had longer operation time, more intraoperative blood loss, and lower VAS 12 hours after operation, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).

Conclusions

It is feasible to carry out common gynecological operations by LESS.
