Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the effects of hysteroscopy in the diagnosis cervical polyp in pregnancy.

Methods

48 cases diagnosed as cervical polyp in pregnancy in Beijing Tiantan Hospital were retrospectively analyzed from Jun. 2013 to Jun. 2019. All the patients were divided into 2 groups: hysteroscopy group and conservative treatment group.

Results

Among the 48 patients, the length of cervical polyps ranged from 1.0 cm to 7.0 cm, 37 cases had single cervical polyp and 11 cases had multiple cervical polyps. 21 patients underwent hysteroscopic resection of cervical polyps (hysteroscopy group), and 27 patients were observed under conservative treatment (conservative treatment group). There was no significant difference between the two groups in age, gestational age, gravidity and parity. The incidence of recurrent vaginal bleeding, vaginitis, incidence of threatened premature labor, premature delivery and premature rupture of membranes were significantly lower in the hysteroscopy group than in the conservative treatment group (P<0.05).

Conclusions

Hysteroscopy has a high clinical value in the diagnosis and treatment of cervical polyps during pregnancy, but a larger sample size is needed for clinical observation.
