Abstract:

Rectum is the most common position of colorectal cancer. The incidence of low rectal carcinoma is on the rise. Reserving anal defecation and control feature, sexual function and improving the quality of life also need to be considered as the scope of treatment, because the malignant tumor is located at the bottom of the pelvic cavity and closely near the anus. With the development of Multidisciplinary Discussion Model (MDT) and innovation of surgical methods, the treatment of low rectal cancer presents a trend of diversification, but surgical treatment of low rectal cancer is still in the mainstream. As for different patients, adopting appropriate and effective surgical methods which can commendably protect normal defecation and control feature, and sexual function is the important key to accelerate the postoperative rehabilitation, improve the quality of life and prolong the survival time.

Key words: Low rectal carcinoma, Surgical methods, Function protection
