Abstract:

Esophageal cancer is one of the eight common malignant tumors in the world and surgical therapy is still the most important treatment. Traditional open esophagectomy has a high morbidity of postoperative complications and patients have poor quality of life. In order to reduce the postoperative complications and improve the quality of life of patients, minimally invasive esophagectomy is gradually accepted by thoracic surgeons and applied to the treatment of esophageal cancer. Most studies believe that minimally invasive esophagectomy is a safe and feasible method. At the same time, the short-term effect such as the morbidity of postoperative complications is better than open esophagectomy and the long-term effect like overall survival is not lower than open esophagectomy. The precise minimally invasive treatment of esophageal cancer will be further developed and promoted.
